In 2009, my father John retired and decided to try something new by starting with just a bull, five bred cows, and a lot of faith.

Dad spent time researching different cattle breeds before he settled on Devons, drawn to their superior meat quality, their ability to finish well on grass without added supplements, their docile temperament, and their standing as a true triple purpose breed for dairy, beef and oxen. That research led him to Jeremy and Laurel Engh at Lakota Ranch, where he purchased those first five bred cows and a bull. The Enghs have been good friends to our family ever since, and the genetics from their herd remain the foundation of our breeding program to this day.

What started small grew quickly, thanks in large part to an early opportunity at Pepper Place Market, one of Alabama's largest farmers markets, where personal relationships with customers took root. These were the kind of relationships that lead to dinner invitations, shared holidays, and friendships that outlast a single purchase.

In the years since, the next generation has joined the operation, partnering on cattle, pigs, land, and a growing hay business. Through it all, our solid belief remains that every blessing on this farm, from the land itself to the customers who've become friends, comes from God. That conviction shapes how we raise our animals, run our farm and treat everyone who walks through our gate.
